The Brooklyn Nets came to Boston to play the Celtics in games three and four of the first round of the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics split the games with Brooklyn, but that was not the main headline. This was the first time Kyrie had come back to play at the TD Garden, with fans in attendance, since he left for Brooklyn after the 2019 season. To say the least, he was not greeted warmly.
To start things off as Kyrie first entered the court during warm ups he was welcomed to a sea of boos from the Garden Faithful.

This was just the beginning right before halftime, more chants broke out. The loudest one being “F* you Kyrie”

After the Celtics beat the Nets in game three 125-119, Celtics fans went wild. Helped by Jayson Tatum’s 50 point game, the C’s surged past the Nets in a much needed win to make the series 2-1 Brooklyn. The Celtics were not expected to do much damage against the star studded Brooklyn Nets anyway after Jaylen Brown was determined to be out for the rest of the season after receiving surgery on his wrist.
Game four was terrible all around, at halftime Kyrie went out to the mid-court and stomped then wiped his foot on the face of the Celtics logo.

After the 141-126 defeat, Kyrie was walking towards the tunnel when a fan threw a water bottle at him.

Kyrie instantly turned around and yelled at the fan before he was detained by TD Garden security. It was later said that the fan was arrested, banned from the TD Garden for life, and would be facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon which is a felony in the state of Massachusetts.
After the game Kyrie was asked about the incident and said “you can see people feel very entitled out here”. Kyrie remains to be the villain in Boston sports after leaving for the Brooklyn super team after promising to stay in Boston.
I think the best worded way of the whole incident was said by Steve Perrault on twitter
I hate that that fan threw a water bottle at Kyrie. That was moronic. But his constant need to say C’s fans are ripping him because of his race feels off. You get booed here when you’re a phony and turn your back on the team. That’s what this weekend was. pic.twitter.com/2LKGwrlEhP

Both were childish acts, both sides were to blame. Yes it was immature and uncalled for to throw a water bottle, yet it was also very unprofessional of Kyrie to be wiping his foot on the Celtics logo and calling out the fans of Boston even before game three.
