When the Red Sox started out the season 0-3, and in the cellar of the AL East, the season was not looking too bright. Many were not happy that the Sox had been swept by one of the worst teams in baseball over the last few years, the Baltimore Orioles, to start off the 2021 season. Yet the Red Sox bounced back.

After getting swept by the Orioles and before their first game against the Rays, Red Sox Catcher, Christian Vazquez, tweeted to try and lift fans and the teams spirits.

Little did he know this would start a win streak. Since this tweet the Red Sox have won six straight games moving to 6-3 and gaining sole possession of first place in the AL East. The Red Sox bats caught fire in the first game against the Rays putting up 11 runs on 16 hits. Everyone in the starting lineup, except for Devers, got a hit helping the team win. In Game 2 the Red Sox came back in the late innings and with help from a Christian Vazquez moon shot over the monster to tie it up in bottom nine, the game went to extra innings where J.D. Martinez walked off the Rays. In game 3 it seemed like no competition from the beginning as the Red Sox won 9-2 with another home run from Vazquez and a 6 run inning in 5th. After going back to back games with clutch home runs Christian Vazquez came up with what may be the quote of the year.

Now going to Baltimore and playing the team that just swept them the Red Sox. Devers and Hernandez hit their first home runs of the season to help power the Red Sox to a 7-3 win. J.D. and Vazquez also continued to stay hot with two hits for J.D. and three for Vazquez. Game two was a little more interesting, Devers went yard again, Vazquez and Dalbec got themselves some RBIs to help the Sox win 6-4 in extras again. Game three was the most fun of them all. Verdugo and Martinez went back to back in the third inning, but that was not all. J.D. ended the day with three homers and Devers had two himself. Bogaerts went 3-5 with a double as well to help push the Red Sox to a 14-9 win over the Orioles.

The Red Sox pitching has proved that they are better than last year. Pivetta and Eovaldi have been amazing starters so far this season. Eduardo Rodriguez coming back to the rotation will also help the Red Sox if he returns to his 2019 form. In the bullpen Whitlock, Ottavino, and Sawamura have proved to be valuable additions. Barnes and Valdez have done well in their few outings and this Red Sox staff continues to prove that they are capable of doing big things in 2021.
