According to Dennis Lin, Padres reporter for the Athletic, Fernando Tatis Jr. has agreed to a 14 year 340 million dollar contract extension.

This is an insane deal considering Tatis has not even played a full season worth of games in his two years in the league. Being called up late middle of the 2019 season, and playing all but one game in the shortened season over his 143 games, Tatis has 39 home runs, 98 RBIs, and a .301 average. On top of his insane hitting stats Tatis has a great glove and arm at one of the most important positions in baseball, shortstop.
The 22 year old became the unofficial face of baseball during the shortened 2020 season with his insane bat flip that caused controversy across the league.

As one of the games most exciting young players Tatis was just recently named the cover athlete of MLB The Show 21. Giving Tatis the longest and third biggest contract in MLB history cemented his importance to the San Diego Padres future plans.
