This one hurts. As a Red Sox fan I have now watched two of our core outfielders get drafted, go through our farm system, win a World Series, and get flipped in their prime, within a year. While Benintendi may not have been one of the most productive players in Boston the last few seasons, he was for sure a fan favorite. From the flow to the sweet lefty swing everyone in Boston loved Benny.

Benintendi has slowly been declining since rookie season, where he hit .271 with 20 home runs. In 2018 he stayed around the same spot hitting .290 with 16 home runs, but in 2019 he struggled hitting .266 with 13 home runs. Benintendi has also been battling against injuries and was out for almost all of 2020 and parts of 2019 due to injury.

While he may not have been the best player to ever put on a Red Sox uniform, he will certainly be one of the most memorable. While being on the 2018 Red Sox already cements your legacy in a Red Sox uniform, Benintendi did more than just be an everyday player. Making two of the most amazing catches I have ever seen, and one of them arguably being the most important catch in Red Sox history.

So far in return the Red Sox are known to get Franchy Cordero from the Kansas City Royals and Josh Winckowski from the New York Mets, and three players to be named later. Franchy Cordero was a stud prospect coming up through the San Diego Padres system showing the rare combination of power and speed, which could bring another electric bat to the middle of the Red Sox order. Winckowski was just recently traded to the New York Mets for Steven Matz. Even though he is still in the lower ranks of the minor leagues, the 22 year old is projected to be a good end of the rotation pitcher when he finally cracks a big league roster. (In Chaim We Trust)

While Benintendi may be gone to Kansas City, he will always be loved in the hearts of Red Sox fans, as we watch the final member of Win, Dance, Repeat ride into the sunset.
